Gonna Kill Him

Need to vent. I think I am going to beat the he** out of Leo. No seriously though, I am at a loss as to what else to do to punish him. Taking TV, toys, privledges away....it all doesn't work. So almost everyday he has been awful at school. He thinks it's a great idea to be a dumba** and throw himself against walls and whatnot. WTF?

A couple of days ago he got a bloody nose becuase he was "play" fighting (as he calls it) with one of his retarded friends. I'm sure I sound horrible throwing all these hurtful names around, but right now, I could care less....better on my blog than to one of the kids, right. Last week he got bit on the leg when he and 2 of his friends "play" fought with another kid. On Halloween he got a black eye from his cousin when he was "play" fighting. Bullsh*t.

So a little bit ago, I get a call from his poor teacher. She is the sweetest, calmest person in the world and I feel so bad for her. Today Leo thought it would be a good idea to call someone a "poop". Not so good of an idea, right? So she punishes him by making him write 2 pages (it's only 1st grade, so they aren't big pages) of sentences saying "I will be kind to my classmates". No big deal, right. Oh no, not for my lovely son. He refuses to do them and decides it would be better to rip up the pages and write random things on them and then throw them away.

I talked to her for awhile. In our conversation I said "you've already raised your kids, but I am at a complete loss", how sad is it that she is at a complete loss too. It's not like my kid has a developmental problem....he's smart as sh*t and it pisses me off. Apparently his grades have been slipping, so he's gonna get a crappy report card too.

Anyone who has advice, please help.....I dunno what to do, besides when he gets home, he is GOING to right those darn sentences...

Forever

So, am I horrible or what? March is a long time ago, but I'll try to post more now, maybe. So as some know, I am pregnant with #3. I am 25 weeks and 4 days. It's a little boy, named Dallas Jackson. I can't wait to meet him. More later.

Long Time No Write

Wow, haven't written in forever. Baily is better now. Although last night I took him to PDH ER because he was running a fever and starting to cough again. His O2 saturation was in the high 90's and his temperature had gone down a little bit. The doctor thinks that he just has a cold. His left ear looked a little bit red, but he said that could be residual from his prior ear infections. Today he seems well, so I'll just watch him.

So, for spring break we decided to go to Quincy. We were going to make a long journey to Tennessee to see Billy's sick, elderly grandpa, but decided that all the driving wouldn't be worth the two days we would be able to spend there.

My dad is in Mexico, so of course the weather here is crappy. Its been real cold with just a little sunshine. Supposed to have heavy winds with cold temperatures, rain, and possibly snow. If it snows, it won't be much at all. Not quite freezing weather all day long. Brrrrr. We found some wood and Billy cut it for us, so at least the house is warm.

School is going well. I like my classes and am really doing well in math. I hope anyways. I understand the homework and get the right answers, so hopefully it will show on the test we have next Wednesday. I'll definately have to review though. We learned a lot.

My medical assisting classes are very general and extremely boring, but I am keeping up and doing what I am supposed to be. Hopefully I can run through this program quickly. I've seen job openings in the newspaper starting at $19.00 per hour. That would be nice. Generally office hours are 9:00am-5:00pm Monday through Friday.

I guess my family has a thing for hospitals.

Not even a full month later and, again, I am at the stinkin' hospital. Baily is the sick one this time. He has been sick for most of the month, but this past week he has gotten much sicker.

On Sunday late night he woke me up with a fever, which fairly easy to break with ibuprofen, so I sent him to school Monday morning. I knew it was an iffy decision, so I came to check on him after my class at 12:30. He wasn't doing well and puked all over me, so I brought him home, got his fever back down, and let him rest. Mom and I went and played Bingo and when we got back I ended up taking him to the Watsonville Hospital Emergency Room. After over 6 hours he was seen by a somewhat incompetent doctor.

The reason I call the doctor this is because he didn't do a check-up and missed a bunch of things, which I'll get to later. He just wanted to get us out of there and really wasted my time, even though he probably thought I was just wasting his.

Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday I fought to keep Baily's fever down. Not a fun thing. Poor guy was taking acetaminophen and ibuprofen all day long. Mixed with lukewarm baths, this didn't excite him much.

Thursday I called his regular doctor for an appointment for him to be seen. 5 days is too many days with a high fever. I knew something had to be going on. They had an available appointment on Friday at 3:15, so I took it.

Around 11:00am Friday Mom and I went to Costco to get a plant. I got a call from Billy around 12:40pm saying that the doctors office had called and they needed to change his appointment to 1:15pm. There was no way we could make it to Santa Cruz from Seaside that quickly, so I called them to find out his doctor was on her way out the door to deliver a baby. They told me that he could go to the urgent care, or they would try to squeeze me into see the other doctor in the office when I got there. I was expecting the worst.

When we got to the doctors office at about 1:50pm we were immediately (within 5 minutes) taken back and seen. The doctor saw that he had bilateral ear infections and suspected pneumonia. His oxygen (O2) level was 93-94. He was given a breathing treatment and I was told to take him to the urgent care in the morning to check his O2 saturation again. He was sent home with a breathing machine (nebulizer) and antibiotics.

When we got home, he just seemed to get worse. Of course it was after 5:00pm, so the doctors office was closed. I called the office and they paged the doctor on call. I told her what was going on and she said to take him to the ER and she would notify them that we were on our way.

At the ER we waited over 45 minutes to be triaged, but when the nurse triaged him he was sent to the back right away. Within 10 minutes of being in the ER room, 5 different people saw him. The tech did all his vitals, the nurse started an IV, they got blood for the lab, a breathing treatment from respiratory therapy, and a chest x-ray. Results say that he has pneumonia in both lungs, so we had to be admitted for observation and to control complications. He got a dose of Rocefin, an IV antibiotic for the pneumonia.

They admitted him and we were sent to the pediatrics floor at around 11:00pm. Throughout the night he woke up coughing and also for his breathing treatments. The O2 monitor beeps when his saturation goes below 91, so I awoke to that several times last night. He doesn't like to keep the oxygen mask on, so I just hold it up to his face when the levels drop.

The doctor saw him this morning and it looks like he will be here for a few days. He has to be able to keep his oxygen levels up without oxygen, and he can't do this yet, but he seems to be doing better. The antibiotic is working, and he will get another dose soon, probably just in his muscle this time. He was up and talking this morning, but is sleeping rather peacefully now. Too cute.

I'll write more on his condition later. Gonna try to get a little rest for now.

Good Day, So Far.

Today started out nicely. I actually slept all night long without having to get up to pee or anything. That's the first time for me in a long time. Woke up to no fire, but it's started and going now, so no problem. It's been really cold at night, turning everything into ice, but it's supposed to warm up today. (Probably just to cool off an ice everything back up.)

I am not sure what I am doing all day today. Billy is trying to plow the snow off the road to the barn so we can get hay to Phyllis' house for Dad's horse. After that we are going to find someone with a truck to help us transport it. Then we have some more firewood to get. Gotta find some dead trees to cut down first. Then I think we will head home.

My dad is supposed to get out of the hospital tomorrow, so we will probably see him first. He hasn't made up his mind about where he is staying, but we will find him before we leave. He's a strong man, as of now he is only taking Tylenol for his pain. He has a huge incision in his chest and only taking Tylenol? Not sure I'm strong enough for that, I'm a wimp.

Leo and Baily are outside playing in the snow. They were sledding, but seem to have found that what their dad is doing is more interesting. Playing on the tractor is always fun. I remember being smaller and sitting on that same tractor with my dad and steering and using the controls. Ah the memories you have, that you can share with your kids.

Ok, time to be lazy for awhile, gonna watch A&E for an hour or so, then get busy.

Busy Day in Quincy.

My goodness, have I been busy today. I've been cleaning my Dad's house off and on since 7:00 this morning. Mostly off, but it looks way better. There are clean (as clean as you can get with a half broken shop vac) floors in the livingroom and his room and mostly everything in the livingroom has been dusted. Let me tell you about a lot of dust too! A lot of what I was doing was piling up stuff because I don't know where anything goes (if it even has a home), and even what some things are. Dad told me not to get rid of any paper-stuff so there are boxes of papers everywhere. Fun!

Billy has been cutting firewood and moving snow most of the day. We also took a break and went to his sisters house to move a bed and visit for a little bit.

Today is Billy's birthday, so we are going to his sisters house around 5:00 this evening for dinner and a cake. This turns out to be really nice because I am broke and couldn't do anything special for him. We should have a good time visiting and hanging out. Also it gives us a small break from work, even though we will probably have to build a new fire when we get home.

The kids don't seem to mind being up here. Besides not listening (as usual) they aren't too bad. They haven't got burned by the fireplace yet or lost in the woods, so thats good.

Gotta go get in the shower now, I feel filthy from cleaning and dusting all day!

Decision

One big choice in life,
Which way should I go?
Who should I choose?
How will I know?

Stuck in the middle,
There is no right "in".
If my choice fails,
I lose in the end.

My Dad's Ordeal

Friday night he had chest pain (for the first time in his life) and went to Quincy Hospital. They saw something on his EKG (the machine they hook up to read your heart) and sent him by helecoptor to Reno. They put some dye into his heart (called a cardiac cath) and then found 2 blocked vessels so scheduled him for surgery Monday.

Surgery went well yesterday, but they found 3 blocked vessels, so took some vessels from his legs to replace the bad ones in his heart. The first time I saw him, he was asleep and still on the ventilator, but they took him off later in the day. At that point he was drowsy and not talking (the vent makes your throat dry and irritated).

I saw him a little bit ago and he was sitting up talking and seemed to be doing well. I am in a hotel room right now, but we are going to go and see him again then go back to Quincy. We are cleaning up his house and getting firewoood and stuff.

We will probably go back home for a few days until the doctors tell my dad when he will be released (3 more days minimum) and how many doctors appointments he will have. If there are a lot and soon he will probably stay with my aunt in Reno for awhile, but when he comes home we might go back to Quincy to help.

Billy is pretty sure he can find some work either with Kevin or Montey (sp?) so we can still send my mom money for rent to help out if we are in Quincy helping my dad.

Another Day

Today was another day of staying inside. Very windy and rainy outside. Yesterday was a lazy day too. I slept most of the day. Doesn't happen very often. Baily laid in bed with us and slept for a couple hours allowing us to get some naps in as well. Nice.

Didn't sleep all day today. Did laundry, dishes, and played online. Also played the PS2 a little bit and watched TV. My poor Leo is sick. I think he may have food poisoning. Whatever he had for lunch, he said it was hot dogs, looked really nasty coming up. He's asleep on the couch for now. I hope he feels better, I hate puking.

That is the reason I slept most of yesterday. This Chantix (stop smoking pill) has a side effect of nausea and vomiting. Well, I ate scrambled eggs and drank coffee and we'll just say yuck. Today I ate toast instead and just laid down for a little bit after taking it and was fine.

I am not sure if this is going to work. The stop smoking thing. I still crave cigarettes, just not as often and not a whole one. I have been going online daily and doing the GetQuit activities that are part of the Chantix program, but am not sure how easy it will be to stop on Monday, my quit date. I really do want to quit, but nicotine and smoking is more addictive and harder to quit than heroin. That sucks. Should've listened to my parents about not smoking, then I wouldn't be dealing with this now. Oh well, here I am.

Baily is being really good right now. He is quietly (wow) sitting next to his big brother on the couch and watching Wheel of Fortune. Not to mention he is chewing on some sort of food he stole from the kitchen, but at least he ate his dinner tonight.

Dinner was kind-of thrown together tonight, but was really good. I used 2 half full bags of whole wheat pasta that were left in the cabinet and made a tuna casserole thing. I boiled the pasta with leftover peas with pearl onions (from last night), a can of corn, and some cut up fresh carrots and broccoli (trees as the boys call them). Then I mixed in a can of cream of mushroom soup, a can of tuna, and some pepper. I added a bit of shredded cheese to the top and baked it for 20 minutes. Baily, Billy, and myself had 2 helpings, YUM! Leo was to sick and mom is on her healthy eating plan, so there are leftovers for lunch tomorrow.

Bye for now!

I love today!

Besides looking like a chipmunk today, due to an abscessed tooth, I am doing well. It's so bad I can't stand to look at myself in the mirror. 4 ibuprofen and 2 vicodin later, it doesn't hurt as bad, but wow, its almost worse than childbirth.

Today was okay. Woke up a little after 8:00am (late for us). Hurried breakfast along, got Leo ready and off to school on time, with a little coffee and help from my wonderful husband. Baily was very easy to deal with this morning, but as the day wore on, he got into more and more mischief and trouble. Oh well, he's only 3 I guess. He really wasn't too bad though, besides opening a new jar of peanut butter and scooping some out with his fingers.

Dinner was for lazy people today. We had plenty of leftover spaghetti from last night, so that was it. Tomorrow I am making a white bean chicken chili. Hopefully it turns out well, new recipe.

I put in two more applications today. I really want someone to call me back. I feel useless while I'm not working. Also it would be nice to give my mom some money to help with bills and stuff. I plan on giving her over half of my tax return, but am still waiting for W-2's. I got 1 of 3 so far. Come on end of the month.

Thank you California PVC, whatever you are, for calling my phone number, making me get up off the floor to answer the phone, and then hanging up on me. Losers, I should call the number back and irritate them, but I just don't feel in the mood tonight.

I would love a job before February, so hopefully I can sign up for some more college classes. I really enjoy taking classes, not to mention the Financial Aid. It helps out too. I did really good last semester. 4 A's and 1 B. I am proud of that and want to do it again while stimulating my brain and learning new things.

Well, Baily and Billy are really cute and asleep on the chair in the living room, and Leo is in bed as well. I should probably take advantage and do something like sleep or fold laundry, but no thanks. Writing in my blog and playing on the internet is just as important, isn't it. I'll do the laundry folding in the morning so I don't disturb Leo while putting clothes away. Lazy, I know, but I really don't want to right now.

Going to find something to do now. Goodnight!

Bingo

So tonight mom and I are going to Bingo. I don't have any money to play, but mom really wants to go and said she would buy my cards. I have been a few times, but never have won, gotten close though. Would be nice to win, pay a bill or two, and give mom the rest.

The boys took a nap today. Hooray! I made an awesome dinner that turned out really good. Penne pasta (the healthy multi-grain kind) and spaghetti with ground white meat turkey, zucchini, yellow squash, red onions, fresh tomatoes and spices. Yummy. Have to cook the healthy stuff more often for mom, but its good for us too. The kids even enjoyed most of it. They took out some stuff though.

The rain finally did stop, but it remained fairly cold all day. Didn't take the kids out to play, but had plenty of enjoyment with them inside. Leo finished his homework. I can't believe they have homework in kindergarten now. Tomorrow he has a half day at school, so maybe we will go do something after he gets out. I have some unused Chuck E. Cheese tokens, so we might drive to Salinas or Gilroy to use them. If they are good anyways.

Question of the day from Leo (as I'm typing) - Does blood go in your head? feet? arms? mouth? noses? blood boogers? fingers? etc.... Nice questions huh? Talking about picking out blood boogers out of his nose. Ewww. Boys!

All I need to do is get the clothes out of the dryer and clean the kitchen up from making dinner. Maybe I can get Billy to do the kitchen, otherwise I'll end up doing it later tonight when we get back or tomorrow morning. Gonna go fold clothes now.

Raining Coffee Morning

Like predicted, it's raining outside and the kids are running throughout the house driving everyone, including the poor kitty, crazy. They keep tossing this little ping pong ball to the cat, but then running and picking it up before the kitty can get it. They don't understand why the cat loses interest in playing with them. Oh well.

Just made the 2nd pot of coffee for the day. With 3 people drinking it we only get about 2 cups each pot, so there is the need to make more. Not everyday, but these cold days call for more coffee, don't you think?

Today will be a boring day. I think I am going to look online now for some rainy day activities to do with the kids. Leo's homework won't take long, so we will need something to do all day.

End Of Day

Yeah! The Giants won in overtime against the Packers. They were playing in Green Bay and it was really cold -4 degree's. It would be difficult to play in that weather, let alone breathe. Brr. The Patriots are now undefeated AFC champions. They beat the Chargers by 9 points, but it wasn't nearly as good a game as the Giants/Packers game. Now I have to wait until February 3rd for the Superbowl to see football again. (And commercials.)

The kids are laying on the living room couch watching TV and winding down for the night, hopefully. I hope to get a decent amount of sleep tonight so I am not exhausted tomorrow.

I completed my goals for the day. 2 loads of laundry even. Finally catching up on my dirty clothes pile. Tomorrow I will be starting Chantix. It is a medication that is supposed to help you stop smoking. You smoke for the first 7 days to allow the medication to build up in your body, then quit on the 8th day. Wish me luck. There is also an online support website that goes along with the medication. This would be a great thing for me. I am over smoking. It costs too much and stinks. I just hope I don't gain a bunch of weight. I don't want to be fat either.

Tomorrow is MLK day, so no school for Leo. I let him slide on finishing his homework, so he can finish it tomorrow. I have been reading to him almost every night, so that part is already done for his homework and he did over half of it, so there isn't much left.

It's supposed to start raining either late tonight or tomorrow and the next day. That sucks. It's hard to keep the kids inside all day, they just have so much energy. I need to come up with rainy day activities they can do so they don't drive me nuts. The only problem is, they need to run! Running and screaming are done outside usually on a daily basis, but rain ruins this plan. I'll figure out something to do with them.

Today I completed 3 online job applications for myself; Safeway, Dollar Tree, and Kmart. They took forever, but I gotta get my name out there. I really want to have money again. It sucks knowing you have bills that need to be paid and not have the money to pay them. I need to work!

What is something you dislike about yourself?

I don't like that I get irritated and mad so easily. Sometimes the stupidest things get to me. I tend to hold a lot in and something insignificant happens and I blow my lid. Lately, I have been trying to be more open in communicating what has been bothering me. This is to the kids, my mom, and my husband. I haven't had a meltdown and lost is for over 1 month, maybe longer.

Hopefully writing will help with this, as I can get my feelings out in a safe and secure place. If I write a short story or poem you can safely bet that it has something to do with what is on my mind at the time, good or bad.

Wake Up Early!

Man, I tried to keep the kids up later last night so they would sleep in. They stayed up until about 10:00pm, but they still got up at dark-thirty. They were up and making noise before 6:30am. So, the stay up late idea is over. All I can say is thank you to myself for doing the dishes last night and getting the coffee ready to the point of where I only had to push a button to turn it on. That sure makes it nice, not to have to think before the sun comes up. (Which it still is pretty darkish outside due to cloud cover.) 3rd cup of coffee and still drinking. Yummy!

Plans for today: Get at least one load of laundry done from start to finish. Watch football. Go to the grocery store to get fresh fruit and vegetables. Try not to get too irritated at my over rambunctious boys. Easy right? You try it! These kids need 100% attention all the time. I wish there were more free activities that were close (to save gas) and keep them entertained. They get bored so easily.

Already I have the little one bugging me to watch Caillou and the older one wanting to watch Yogi Bear on Boomerang. So far the TV is on Boomerang, but may change soon due to kids rolling all over the floor like dead logs. A lot of noise.

Baily has been a potty mouth already this morning. His words of choice lately are ass, bitch, and fucker. Not nice! We have all been trying to stop using these words, and the usage for adults has decreased, but he makes up for it. I have tried using soap to clean his mouth and also sending him to the corner, but he just doesn't get it. Leo doesn't help by laughing at him everytime he says something naughty. Grrrr. Annoying!

Enough for now, time to get some more coffee into my blood! TTYL!

Edgar Allen Poe

Did you know that today is his birthday. In honor I picked one of his poems to post.

Lenore
Edgar Allen Poe

Ah, broken is the golden bowl! the spirit flown forever!
Let the bell toll!- a saintly soul floats on the Stygian river;
And, Guy de Vere, hast thou no tear?- weep now or nevermore!
See! on yon drear and rigid bier low lies thy love, Lenore!
Come! let the burial rite be read- the funeral song be sung!-
An anthem for the queenliest dead that ever died so young-
A dirge for her the doubly dead in that she died so young.

"Wretches! ye loved her for her wealth and hated her for her pride,
And when she fell in feeble health, ye blessed her- that she died!
How shall the ritual, then, be read?- the requiem how be sung
By you- by yours, the evil eye,- by yours, the slanderous tongue
That did to death the innocence that died, and died so young?"

Peccavimus; but rave not thus! and let a Sabbath song
Go up to God so solemnly the dead may feel no wrong.
The sweet Lenore hath "gone before," with Hope, that flew beside,
Leaving thee wild for the dear child that should have been thy
bride.
For her, the fair and debonair, that now so lowly lies,
The life upon her yellow hair but not within her eyes
The life still there, upon her hair- the death upon her eyes.

"Avaunt! avaunt! from fiends below, the indignant ghost is riven-
From Hell unto a high estate far up within the Heaven-
From grief and groan, to a golden throne, beside the King of
Heaven!
Let no bell toll, then,- lest her soul, amid its hallowed mirth,
Should catch the note as it doth float up from the damned Earth!
And I!- to-night my heart is light!- no dirge will I upraise,
But waft the angel on her flight with a Paean of old days!"

Worthless Today

Wow! I didn't get anything done today. Yesterday I did 3 loads of laundry so maybe that makes up for it. I know, I'm lazy. But, in my defense, I will probably clean the rest of the kitchen tonight.

Billy helped the neighbors finish laying their gravel driveway this morning, while I did absolutely nothing. Played around online, watched TV, and played with the kids. After lunch we went to Salinas River State Beach and walked around. There were a lot of people horseback riding there. Some beautiful animals. We got to pet 2 of them. Someday I'll have one, hopefully.

After the beach we headed off to Walmart, Baily's favorite store of all time. I got the kids one of those Easy Link Internet Gaming things for $5.00. We haven't tried it yet, actually I haven't even took it out of my trunk yet. I also got a new laptop case for my new laptop. It is actually pretty nice for only $19.88. Seems to be pretty secure and holds all it needs too. The cat should be happy because I actually remembered to get him cat food. (That was the whole reason for going to Walmart in the first place.)

Then we came home. I took a nap until 5:00pm. I haven't done that for a long time. It felt good, but I am still tired. Really lazy day today. Tomorrow is football, YEAH! I want the Patriots to win against the Chargers and the Giants to beat the Packers. I think that would make a good Superbowl. Even though we all know the Superbowl is all about the commercials and the snack food!

First Blog

So this is officially my first blog on this website. I occasionally blog on myspace, but this site seems to be more readily accessible. Hopefully Lisa will tell me some tricks on how to make my blog look as pretty as hers.

Yesterday I got a new laptop. Its a Dell inspirion 1525 with a Verizon data card for the internet connection. Its supposed to work anywhere. So far, so good! I guess this inspired me to start blogging, because I now will have a computer with internet access with me almost all of the time.

Baily had an appointment with a urologist today. His regular doctor couldn't feel his left testicle and ordered an ultrasound which resulted in a referral to the urologist. The urologist was able to feel both testes and said even though the left one is more difficult to pull down the surgery can wait and isn't recommended at this time. He will be rechecked in a year and if that point it worsens - he will have the surgery. Good news! Baily was awesome at the appointment and laid ever so still on the table while the doctor was pushing and tugging at his testes. He did have a funny look on his face though.

Leo is in school today. They just started back on Tuesday and already have another holiday coming up (Martin Luther King Jr. Day). He is learning to read and can already read most 3 letter words. He knows the entire alphabet and what sounds each letter makes. He can count up to 30 and write the numbers as well. He does have a little trouble with the 5's and 2's (writing them). He is ahead of most kids in his class, that isn't really saying much as the school he attends isn't one of the better in the area.

Not having a job or being in school right now sucks. I feel that I am wasting time just being at home. I enjoy hanging out with Baily in the day, but soon he will be going back to preschool. I don't know if I am going back to college this semester or not. I have to see what kind of schedule I can get with a new job. Just waiting for call backs and looking online for more places to apply. Most applications for everywhere are online now, so I don't need to go anywhere, although at some point I will if I don't get a call-back.

Billy keeps putting in applications too and going and talking to managers, but no job yet. Hopefully that will come soon. He really wants to work too, but its hard with no high school education and no drivers license.

Maybe I'll write more later this evening. Bye!
