Good Day, So Far.

Today started out nicely. I actually slept all night long without having to get up to pee or anything. That's the first time for me in a long time. Woke up to no fire, but it's started and going now, so no problem. It's been really cold at night, turning everything into ice, but it's supposed to warm up today. (Probably just to cool off an ice everything back up.)

I am not sure what I am doing all day today. Billy is trying to plow the snow off the road to the barn so we can get hay to Phyllis' house for Dad's horse. After that we are going to find someone with a truck to help us transport it. Then we have some more firewood to get. Gotta find some dead trees to cut down first. Then I think we will head home.

My dad is supposed to get out of the hospital tomorrow, so we will probably see him first. He hasn't made up his mind about where he is staying, but we will find him before we leave. He's a strong man, as of now he is only taking Tylenol for his pain. He has a huge incision in his chest and only taking Tylenol? Not sure I'm strong enough for that, I'm a wimp.

Leo and Baily are outside playing in the snow. They were sledding, but seem to have found that what their dad is doing is more interesting. Playing on the tractor is always fun. I remember being smaller and sitting on that same tractor with my dad and steering and using the controls. Ah the memories you have, that you can share with your kids.

Ok, time to be lazy for awhile, gonna watch A&E for an hour or so, then get busy.

Busy Day in Quincy.

My goodness, have I been busy today. I've been cleaning my Dad's house off and on since 7:00 this morning. Mostly off, but it looks way better. There are clean (as clean as you can get with a half broken shop vac) floors in the livingroom and his room and mostly everything in the livingroom has been dusted. Let me tell you about a lot of dust too! A lot of what I was doing was piling up stuff because I don't know where anything goes (if it even has a home), and even what some things are. Dad told me not to get rid of any paper-stuff so there are boxes of papers everywhere. Fun!

Billy has been cutting firewood and moving snow most of the day. We also took a break and went to his sisters house to move a bed and visit for a little bit.

Today is Billy's birthday, so we are going to his sisters house around 5:00 this evening for dinner and a cake. This turns out to be really nice because I am broke and couldn't do anything special for him. We should have a good time visiting and hanging out. Also it gives us a small break from work, even though we will probably have to build a new fire when we get home.

The kids don't seem to mind being up here. Besides not listening (as usual) they aren't too bad. They haven't got burned by the fireplace yet or lost in the woods, so thats good.

Gotta go get in the shower now, I feel filthy from cleaning and dusting all day!

Decision

One big choice in life,
Which way should I go?
Who should I choose?
How will I know?

Stuck in the middle,
There is no right "in".
If my choice fails,
I lose in the end.

My Dad's Ordeal

Friday night he had chest pain (for the first time in his life) and went to Quincy Hospital. They saw something on his EKG (the machine they hook up to read your heart) and sent him by helecoptor to Reno. They put some dye into his heart (called a cardiac cath) and then found 2 blocked vessels so scheduled him for surgery Monday.

Surgery went well yesterday, but they found 3 blocked vessels, so took some vessels from his legs to replace the bad ones in his heart. The first time I saw him, he was asleep and still on the ventilator, but they took him off later in the day. At that point he was drowsy and not talking (the vent makes your throat dry and irritated).

I saw him a little bit ago and he was sitting up talking and seemed to be doing well. I am in a hotel room right now, but we are going to go and see him again then go back to Quincy. We are cleaning up his house and getting firewoood and stuff.

We will probably go back home for a few days until the doctors tell my dad when he will be released (3 more days minimum) and how many doctors appointments he will have. If there are a lot and soon he will probably stay with my aunt in Reno for awhile, but when he comes home we might go back to Quincy to help.

Billy is pretty sure he can find some work either with Kevin or Montey (sp?) so we can still send my mom money for rent to help out if we are in Quincy helping my dad.
